Snowman Rice Krispie Treats

Want a unique and easy Christmas treat to bring to potlucks, cookie exchanges or just to make with the kids this holiday season? Check out these easy Snowman Rice Krispie Treats. They are fast to whip up, easy for the kids to assemble and will make everyone who sees them smile. They are so cute and fun to make that they may even replace our cookies to Santa this year.
Makes 12-15 snowmen
Ingredients:
For the krispie treats:
3 tablespoons butter
1 - 10oz bag marshmallows (regular size)
6 cups rice krispie cereal
For the decorations:
White frosting*
Fruit by the Foot
Mini marshmallows
Candy eyes
Candy corn
Mini chocolate chips
Directions:
To make treats:
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until melted.
Remove from heat and add rice cereal.
Stir until evenly coated.
Spread out into a 9x13 baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
Use waxed paper or a spatula with a little butter to press down.
Allow to cool.
Press a 2” round cookie cutter to cut out circles.
To decorate:
Spread 2 teaspoons of frosting onto a krispie treat circle.
For the scarf: Cut Fruit by the Foot so it hangs off a little. Use a knife to cut little fringes on one side.
For the hat: cut Fruit by the Foot to fit on the top of the snowman’s “head”.
Secure a mini marshmallow to the top of the hat with a little frosting.
Add candy eyes.
Add candy corn nose.
Add mini chocolate chips to make a mouth.
Notes/Tips:
*You can use store-bought frosting or make your own. I whipped up a quick one by beating 5 tablespoons softened salted butter with 2 C. powdered sugar, and a teaspoon milk. Beat on medium for 2 minutes. If it’s too thick, drizzle more milk, a little at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
Make sure to supervise children when cutting the scarf and hat.
Use other candy to decorate your snowman and make him your creation!
