Best Places To Eat and Drink in Asheville, NC with Kids.

My husband and I met in 2013 and since then we have traveled to Asheville, North Carolina at least twice a year. It's our favorite spot. The food is wonderful, the beer is amazing and the backdrop couldn't be any better. One thing we noticed was how family friendly the city was and knew that once we started having children that Asheville would become our family getaway.

Here are a few of our favorite places to eat and drink with the kids in Asheville, North Carolina.

1. Tupelo Honey

One of our favorite restaurants that is a crowd pleaser with it's classic southern dishes like shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and juicy short ribs is Tupelo Honey. The downtown Asheville location is centrally located and has a cozy indoor space and a great outdoor patio that overlooks the park which is always full of music and people. Our first time dining there as parents with a toddler was just as hospitable as when we were dating. The host graciously took our bulky stroller and sacrificed her place behind the hostess stand to store it for us. Their children's menu is not just Mac and cheese, but also features buttermilk fried chicken, veggie burgers, and the grilled Carolina trout. We didn't do a kids dish this visit because we knew that the entree servings were gracious and the free buttermilk biscuits before dinner would keep our son plenty happy. My husband ordered the Beer City Double Stack burger and my son Christian and I shared the red wine glazed short ribs. Everything was cooked to perfection!

2. Highland Brewing Company

If you're visiting Asheville then most likely you are going not only to experience the beautiful outdoors but to also experience some of the best craft beer in the world. One of our favorite beers ever is the Highland IPA and we knew that we wanted to visit the brewery. Highland is located minutes from downtown and is nestled in the foothills of the mountains. The rooftop deck gives a gorgeous view of the mountains. When we went it was game night and the large indoor area had various games from giant Jinga to cornhole, which our son did not stop playing with. Our favorite part of the brewery, besides the awesome beer, open space, and fun games for the kids was the people that worked there. EVERYONE we met made us feel so welcomed. Even the brewmaster, Hollie came out to chat with us. And I swear, her and Christian had a moment and he almost hugged her...but got distracted by something flashy. Kids! Later during the week we met some locals with kids who just gushed over the brewery too. They told us that on Fridays there's always music in the field adjacent to the brewery and the entire event is full of families and children enjoying the music and beer under the stars. They also spoke highly of the staff and raved on about Hollie and her brewmaster skills and genuine authentic nature. So next time you are in Asheville and you want to grab a drink with the family head over to Highland Brewing Company. I promise you won't be disappointed.

3. Biscuit Head

Imagine giant biscuits and a sea of homemade jams and butters. That's what Biscuit Head is. We tend to always go to the location in West Asheville and love it even more now that we have a child. My husband and I order our favorites. He gets the catfish biscuit with fried catfish, spicy slaw, poached egg and a creole gravy and I always get the pulled pork biscuit. Pulled pork, jalapeño pimento, poached egg, and maple syrup. I'm drooling just thinking of it. Believe me you will stay full throughout lunch and won't believe how much food you'll get at an extraordinary price! For an extra buck they scrambled up Christian an egg. After he ate we let him play in the back of the restaurant where a children area with a train table and art supplies is set up at. It's a great start to the day for any family vacation.

4. Sierra Nevada

Another great spot to grab a drink and a bite at in Asheville with the kids is the new Sierra Nevada Brewery. The brewery itself is huge and new. The design was well thought out for visitors, especially those with children. The outdoor area has a garden that the kids can walk through and a play area with a sandbox, chalk boards and other toys for the kids. There is also cornhole, and an amphitheater that has bands playing. If hanging out outside than you can order a drink and there are a few food options at the outside bar.
