We visited Great Wolf Lodge a few weekends back, thanks to Coca-Cola for sponsoring this trip, and it exceeded our expectations. We figured it was nothing more than a hotel with a waterpark inside of it. Boy, were we wrong!
It was an unforgettable family vacation and we can't wait to make this a yearly tradition.
From now until Labor Day weekend, Great Wolf Lodge has a Summer Camp-in theme, and I must say that you have to take your children to this event. It truly feels like summer camp!
As soon as we entered the lodge it felt like we hadn't stepped into a hotel but an actual summer camp lodge. The staff were dressed like camp counselors, there were free games and activities going on throughout the hotel that were all camp inspired. There was so much fun camp stuff to do that we actually did not even go to the waterpark until the second day.
What to expect at Great Wolf Lodge Summer Camp-In
As you check in the staff will give you a Summer Camp-In itinerary. There will be a long list of activities and the times and places that these activities are held at.
Just like you would get at summer camp! These are all free activities and do not cost anything additional.
Our favorite things to do were waking up and doing yoga with the Summer Camp Characters, the ducky craft and the ducky water race in the wave pool where winner got to spend the day in the coca-cola winners circle and enjoy a big sundae, songs and performances by the characters in the lodge, and bedtime stories with s'mores. I don't think our kids smiled more the entire summer then they did during the camp activities. Even the food at the restaurants were camp theme and included a huge BBQ feast meal with a nice refreshing coca-cola.
What is the Wolf Pass
Since we were invited to stay, we were given a Wolf pass. There is also a Paw pass. I'll explain the difference!
The Wolf pass allows your kids to enjoy all of the extra things that Great Wolf Lodge normally has to offer and the paw pass allows them to enjoy a few of them at a fraction of the price.
What are the extra activities, you ask?
You can play a MagiQuest game, which is a scavenger hunt game, that our three year old was a bit too young to understand, but he did love waving his magic wand in front of the treasure boxes to watch them open. You're wondering what I'm talking about but I swear your kids will love it.
There is also putt putt and bowling that was a big hit with our three year old. Even the baby enjoyed throwing the balls. But the biggest hit with our children was the arcade. They loved playing all the games and even riding the miniature carousel. The Wolf pass also allows the children to get sweet treats such as cups of candy that they get to choose at the candy store and a scoop of any ice cream.
The Wolf or Paw pass are great additions to do more, but they are not necessary. Our kids enjoyed all the free Summer Camp-In activities just as much as they enjoyed the additional things from the Wolf Pass.
We have a one year old and a three year old and there were plenty of pools and slides that our little ones could enjoy. We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor portion of the waterpark because it was raining, which makes Great Wolf Lodge so amazing, rain or shine there is plenty to do inside and you never feel like you need to leave to do more.
All in all we LOVED our time at Great Wolf Lodge, so much so that we have already recommended friends to visit and are planning a family getaway there soon with grandparents and cousins. My biggest recommendation is stay for two nights. There is so much stuff to do during the Summer Camp-in event that you will want to stay and do it all and not feel rushed trying to fit it all in.
