How to Prepare for the first 6 weeks with Baby #ForBetterBeginnings

This post is sponsored by Playtex Baby, but like always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Are we ever really prepared for a baby? Whether it's your first, second, or third the transition takes some time to get a hold on, but at least there are a few things that can help make the process a lot smoother. I just had our second child and like many births, things did not go according to plan. A few days before I was told I needed a C-section. I might not had been prepared for a C-section but I was ready to bring baby home thanks to my exciting partnership with Playtex Baby™.

How to prepare for the First 6 Weeks with Baby

1. Bottles

You will need bottles. Lots and lots of bottles. I love Playtex® VentAire® bottles. Not only are they cute but they are designed to help prevent gas, spit-up and fussiness. The bottle design is efficient to keep baby happy, and the Playtex® Nipple Variety Pack has an assortment of nipples that are designed to keep baby comfortable. The nipple designs vary from nipples that fit babies with a wider suction to those who prefer to eat upright. My personal favorite is the breast-like shaped nipple that will help make transitioning from breast to bottle much easier!

2. Diapers

You can't have too many! Unless they are size newborn diapers. Those tiny cute diapers will last for a few weeks before baby grows right out of them. So make sure to stock up on plenty of size 1's and size 2's for those first 6 weeks.

3. A Diaper Genie

Yes, you need a diaper genie. Everyone wants to visit your baby and the last thing a healing mother needs to be doing is constant garbage duty due to those dirty diapers. I love the new Playtex Diaper Genie Expressions™. It locks in the smell and can hold up to 50 dirty diapers. Not only is it functional but it looks cute too with the Playtex variety of decorative sleeves that go over the genie that can match the nursery!

4. Sleepers

Those first few months will fly by and even the most experienced mom will be busy healing for at least 6 weeks, which means those cute outfits you spent money on will go to waste. I suggest buying sleepers for those first few months, preferably ones with zippers. Zippers? Yes, zipper sleepers, because there is nothing more annoying than trying to button a thousand buttons after a middle-of-the-night dirty diaper session.

Those first 6 weeks your baby will mostly eat, sleep and poop so there aren't too many things that a mom absolutely needs! There might be luxury items like a nice rocker and cute outfits that you will want but those things can wait. Make sure to have these necessities to begin with just in case you have your baby sooner than expected like I did.
