Easy Chocolate Dipped OREO Basketballs

Do you remember them?

The simple sandwich cookie with cream in the middle that wasn't complete without a cup of milk to submerge them in. I grew up pretty poor and things like OREO cookies were delicacies in the house. When we did go to Walmart and get a package of OREO cookies I would savor them, eating no more than two at a time every few days. My favorite thing to do was to get my cookies after school, cup of milk, and watch my after school cartoons. I would make those cookie last forever. I would untwist them, because you now have turned your one cookie into two. Savor the cream and then eat my cookies after making sure they were good and soaked with milk. You didn't want to submerge the cookie for too long because there was nothing more disappointing the fishing the broken piece out of the cup.

It's funny how something as simple as a cookie can trigger such good memories.

My family all have different ways of dunking their OREO cookies. I untwist and dunk, my husband submerges the cookie partially. And well my son's first time dunking an OREO was more of shooting a three than a dunk!! He just threw the entire OREO into the cup and watched as it floated there.
